At first blush, you might be inclined to compare Mercury's M3 Carbon Tubular Wheelset to other manufacturers' pure climbing wheels. And you'd be right to do so, at least when it comes to climbing. But these aren't just a one-trick pony. The M3s' aerodynamic pedigree, low weight, and brute strength also recommend them for all the ups, downs, and flat-outs of competitive cycling. They cover the demands of every terrain on every day of your cycling life.

1500g - Rim Brake only
The rims measure 38 millimeters, a depth that strikes an all-purpose middle ground between straight-on aerodynamics, hiding from crosswinds, and considerations of weight for climbing. The M3 is a solid 24mm wide, which means you can run lower PSI for a more comfortable ride that corners with unparalleled confidence. Wider rims also have some counter-intuitive effects when compared to those standard 19 millimeter rims: they actually decrease rolling resistance and increase aerodynamics.
Our 2019 off-road line up has been redesigned for the new season to get your rig up the mountain, across the gravel and over the line faster than ever before. With many riders using wider, and wider tires these days, you may think that XC specific wheelsets are going by the wayside - not here at Mercury. Whether you are a serious XC racer, a gravel grinder or just prefer the classic ride characteristics of a skinnier rim and traditional width tire, this wheelset is right up your alley. They can pick their way up a technical rock stairset as confidently as a Nepalese mountain goat, rip downhill, and corner with the precision of a surgeons scalpel.
Two acronyms that you will get used to hearing with this wheelset will be - K.O.M., and P.R.! Our G3 wheels are all about efficiency, and getting every last watt from your legs transferred to the trail. The rim is a solid 30mm wide, and 24mm deep providing a stiff, responsive, yet forgiving ride. Our hand built wheels are laced two-cross with Sapim Double butted spokes, and alloy nipples to trim weight, all centered around our sealed-bearing, Mercury designed hubs that can convert from thru axle to QR easily so you can use it on your whole fleet of bikes, regardless of drop out standards. The set comes in at a respectable 1,644g. Which is only about 100g heavier than the competitions full carbon XC options, at about half the price.
They're also available in two sizes - 700c (29") or 650b (27.5") to help fit a multitude of applications and/or conversions.
Possessing twice the tensile strength of High-Modulus carbon fiber, Fiber-X employs damping characteristics to deliver a trail-tuned ride while increasing durability - durable enough to withstand a double impact of 120 joules at the same location. The Fiber-X material is blended into all of Mercury’s X-Series wheels and is visible by its distinguishable silver stripe. Rim profiles feature an optimized trapezoidal profile that funnels trail input into the elastic material to dissipate energy and avoid failure. All X-series wheels feature off-set rim beds, embossed logos and hook-less beads. At their center, is Mercury’s proprietary Axis straight-pull hub featuring triple stepped 6 pawl system to deliver 3.5° of engagement. All current wheel diameters, axle sizes and freehub standards are supported.
